Matthew Fuhrmann

Matthew Fuhrmann is the Cullen-McFadden Professor of Political Science at Texas A&M University. He has held visiting positions at Harvard University, Stanford University, and Yale University. He was named an Andrew Carnegie Fellow in 2016 by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. His research and writing focuses on international relations, international security, military alliances, nuclear weapons, deterrence, and armed conflict. He is the author or coauthor of three books: Atomic Assistance: How “Atoms for Peace” Programs Cause Nuclear Insecurity (2012), Nuclear Weapons and Coercive Diplomacy (2017, with Todd S. Sechser), and Influence Without Arms: The New Logic of Nuclear Deterrence. His research has been mentioned in media outlets such as CNN, The New York Times, The New Yorker, and NPR.
