Jim Paul lives in a small, former gold-mining town, in the Sierra Nevada foothills about forty miles northeast of Sacramento, CA, with his wife Sylvia. Retired from IT systems design, programming and support in manufacturing, Jim spends his days writing and editing. The Crown of Muirnin is his first novel. "I found writing a romantic fantasy novel a lot of fun," Jim says. "It allowed me to use my imagination in creating characters, animals and places. It also allowed me to use magic. I look forward to the next Shannon adventure, The Fairy Triad."
Now associated with Trestle Press, Jim's book The Crown of Muirnin is being published as an Ebook Serialization. See Volume 1: The Devil's Tomb.
Jim is also working on a mystery novel and has spent time riding along with law enforcement officers. "The police are generous with their time; they like to share 'war stories' that are often funny and the officer's telling the story is usually the butt of the joke."
"I used to do a lot of acting. When we performed a musical or play, we asked of the audience only one thing: to accept the premise of the play. For example, in My Fair Lady we asked the audience to accept that we were in Victorian London. In return, we had the obligation to present a play that faithfully embodied that premise; we were required to give our best performance regardless of the size or make-up of our audience. I believe an author has the same requirement placed upon him. He asks that the reader accept his premise in return for the author's best effort to make the world he has created consistent with the premise and realistic for the reader."
