A sought-out analytics author with deep technical and clinical experience, his background encompasses more than 18 years of health information technology managerial/architectural experience, including specialization in design thinking, object-oriented systems design, development, implementation, and production procedures. Orthous has extensive knowledge of healthcare industry trends and the role of successful HIT systems. A growth minded individual with a proven track record of turning data into action through the use of analytics. His extensive expertise includes: business intelligence (BI), financial/quality reporting, decision analytics at large, and complex-consulting engagements with major U.S. and global companies.
Mr. Orthous has worked side-by-side with clinicians to drive change that enables organizations to achieve the triple aim of health care. His experience includes working with different types of accountable care organizations (ACO), Clinically Integrated Networks (CIN), alliances between health systems (PHO), self-standing business units within health systems, and payer-provider collaboration.
Additionally, he is an expert in all phases of the system development life cycle and agile development methodologies. Mr. Orthous is active in the SAP community. He has chaired the Dashboarding and Visualization Special Interest Group for America’s SAP users group (ASUG), and a member of the ASUG Leadership Council. He is also a member of the HIMSS Clinical & Business Intelligence Population Health Task Force.
Mr. Orthous is a renowned international speaker, having delivered presentations across the U.S. and in Australia, South Africa and Italy. He is the co-author of the best-selling book SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence: The Comprehensive Guide now in its second edition. Orthous spent seven years at McKesson Corporation, where he managed the McKesson Practice Focus Mobile™ product selected as a finalist for the 2013 Technology Association of Georgia Southern Software Association Impact Awards.
