Peyton Jones

Peyton Jones is part scholar, part practitioner, specializing in applied 1st century praxis that made the early church unstoppable. Jones has planted churches out of Starbucks, pubs, living rooms, and urban neighborhoods across three continents. After scaling a large church in Huntington Beach, California at the age of 22, he departed for the mission field, spending 12 formative years in Wales — including serving at Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones's historic Sandfields church — he planted a multiplication hub church before returning to plant one in urban Long Beach and, most recently, The Abbey in San Diego.

One of two main teachers at Through the Word, a Bible study platform reaching 12 million people, Jones's heart beats for the every day believer to follow Jesus on the journey of making disciples. His best-selling books, including Church Zero (2014), Reaching the Unreached (2017), Church Plantology (2021), Discipology (2026) and Journey to Disciple Making (2026) — have equipped thousands of leaders.

While serving as a bi-vocational church planter for nearly 20 years — nurse, firefighter, barista, factory worker — Peyton founded NewBreed Training, a cross-denominational training collective specializing in mobilizing every day believers to disciple like Jesus to plant like Paul using first century principles. During this time, he also co-founded Church Planter Magazine, and five podcasts, including the Church Planter Podcast.

He lives in San Diego with his wife, whom he fell in love with at 17, and their two daughters.
