Darryl Bennett

Darryl Bennett (1965 -) was born in Indiana into a family of dreamers and voracious readers. After graduating from DePauw University, his trade was advertising sales, in Chicago, before moving to Boston to work for Yankee Publishing. He returned to the Midwest to work with 'the family business', sports educational videos, and over the past 20 years he also published a quarterly, local guide to Ames (IA) for several of those years, and, edited hundreds of advertisements for instructional videos and the catalogs in which they are sold. His Ames guide, and efforts to promote the local arts, earned him the 2009 Doug Brown Media Award from the Ames Community Arts Council. His book, "Who Stole Franklin Stripington?", was co-written with his daughter, Lucy Grace Bennett at the conclusion of a fun scavenger-hunt for her class.
