Toni Byrnes

I was born, raised and schooled in England at the end of World War II. I was the youngest of seven children. My childhood was a happy one in spite of growing up at the end of the war when many buildings were in ruin and a lot of things were still on ration. I still have my ration book to remind me of those times. I was born in an air raid shelter just outside London as the Germans were dropping "doodle bugs" today these are called "cruise" missiles. I lived in several areas that were very rural but also close to big cities such as: Bath and Bristol in Somerset, Southampton and Winchester in Hampshire. I immigrated to the U.S. in the early 60's all alone and was joined by one sister 6 months later. I love to tell everyone how grateful I am I grew up at a time and in a place I did - no pressures, just a lot of fun.

Look for my next story the end of 2013
