Geoffrey Oelsner's love and concern for the earth, coupled with a rich mix of experiences of communion with nature, have led him to an awareness of our infinite potential, including our largely unexplored capacity to attune to and directly benefit our natural environment. His new memoir affirms this vital capacity. A Country Where All Colors Are Sacred and Alive, A Memoir of Non-Ordinary Experience and Collaboration with Nature (2012, Lorian Press) is a compilation of absorbing true stories, reflections, and resources for blessing and benefitting our local environments, and the entire planet.

Geoff Oelsner grew up in Kansas City, Missouri where he began writing stories, songs, and poetry in 1963, at age 14. While pursuing an English major at Oberlin College in Ohio, he spent a year as an exchange student in Aberdeen, Scotland, and discovered the Findhorn Community, where he spent life-changing time in 1969-70. He has since revisted Findhorn twice.

In 1979, Geoff moved to Fayetteville, in the Arkansas Ozarks, with his wife and musical partner, Leslie Berman Oelsner. They have raised two children, Adam and Amy, both also performing musicians.

He has also published a collection of his poetry, Native Joy: poems songs visions dreams (1963-2003) (2003, Trafford) and his work has been featured in several other books, including Writing Poetry from the Inside Out by Sandford Lyne (Sourcebooks Inc., 2007).

Geoff has built a following as a performer both of his own songs and of poems which he sometimes sets to music or chants and recites to the accompaniment of guitar, harmonica, dulcimer, autoharp, harmonium, and the shruti box (a drone instrument from India). He has released 2 CD's of original songs, Morning Branches and Ordinary Mystery with musician friends, Leslie, and both of their children.

A long time environmental activist and researcher, Geoff is presently involved in several environmental initiatives, including the Psi-Sci Alliance project, which brings together established climate scientists with highly qualified intuitives to innovate new approaches to addressing and ameliorating climate change.
