Pete Delohery

Pete Delohery was born in Washington, D.C. in 1942. He received a B.S. and a M.S. in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech and taught classes at Virginia Tech; was Town Engineer of Blacksburg, Va., and an engineering consultant in Atlanta, Georgia. Even through he was successful in engineering, his passion was always writing. Pete's writing style immediately involves you in the story and the life of all his characters.

Mr. Delohery, who died in 2011, was a civil engineer by training, but built a following for his writing after his novel's publication in 2011. The novel has been translated into Spanish (El cordero al matadero) and is available via Amazon and Barnes & Noble. He also authored the short story The Deadly Smile.

Third year of Category in Shelf Unbound Magazine Annual Writing Contest. First Place Award is $1000.

The Pete Delohery Award for Best Sports Book honors the author of Lamb to the Slaughter, a popular novel that explored love and courage, sin and redemption in the world of boxing. Shelf Unbound is an international digital magazine with 125,000 subscribers in 70 countries. The 2015 Writing Contest ended in November. The entire Dec/Jan 2016 issue is dedicated to contest winners.
