Giovanni Aloi

Dr. Giovanni Aloi is an internationally renowned author, educator, and curator specializing in the representation of nature and the environment in art. He studied History of Art and Art Practice in Milan and moved to London in 1997 to further his studies at Goldsmiths University where he earned a Master in Visual Cultures, and a Ph.D. on the subject of natural history in contemporary art. Aloi currently teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Sotheby’s Institute of Art New York. He has curated art projects involving photography and the moving image, contributes to BBC radio and NPR TV programs, and is involved in museum education programs at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Aloi is the Editor of 'Antennae: The Journal of Nature in Visual Culture' and of the University of Minnesota Press series 'Art after Nature'.
