T R. Bauer

Author, T. R. Bauer, once described himself on his business card, “Writer, Activist, Liberal, Christian, Half-Ass Mechanic; essentially, an all around hell raiser”.

His writing began twenty years ago, when a professor of literature insisted that he seek publication of an essay Mr. Bauer had written about his handicapped son, entitled Jesse’s Eye’s.

As a passionate advocate for organized labor, it has been said that one of his articles in support of the labor movement almost incited a riot.

He can be gritty and sometimes abrupt in his writing, but he advocates what is true, honest, just and compassionate. It is difficult for him to pass a panhandler on the street without stopping to help, even if traffic backs up on account of it.

Mr. Bauer’s objective in writing is not to change people’s minds, but to cause them to rethink their beliefs and convictions.

His antagonists have often assaulted his unorthodox assertions on many issues; social, political and religious. Rather than answer questions, he is more inclined to question answers.

Mr. Bauer has drawn the attention of all who have picked up his stories and essays. His fixation upon primitive Christianity infects his work with spiritual undertones that are not always agreeable, but they are honest.

An avid story teller, his favorite saying is to never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Having been raised in the remote mountains of Eastern Kentucky, at age fifteen he became an MK (missionary kid), following his family to the Caribbean islands. He has spent time in four countries, absorbing cultures that have influenced his unique perspective on the complexity of human nature.

Orphan of God, is Mr. Bauer’s first published novel, and as with all of his work, it reflects his edgy slant toward life.

Currently, T. R. Bauer, his wife, Lynda, and their two (rescued) dogs reside near Greensboro, North Carolina.
