ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Marshall W. Huffman never considered being a published author. Most of his writing was for personal satisfaction. His wife, Susan, talk him into submitting his work for publication but the idea of rejection deterred him. It wasn’t until 2012 that he finally gave in and at her insistence e-published his first book, THE END. That almost turned out to be a disaster when he accidently published the rough draft instead of the finished book. After that little setback and of course, republishing the finished manuscript, his writing career has since taken off.

Marshall’s first trilogy is THE EVENT and consists of THE END, THE BEGINNING, and THE REVELATION. This was followed by a second trilogy called: THE SECOND CIVIL WAR and consist of Book I – A NATION DIVIDED; Book II – A NATION AT WAR and the conclusion, Book III – A NATION HEALING.

He has also published a series of mysteries entitled: THE ANGIE BARTONI CASE FILES with a central cast of characters. In addition, he has two other series entitled: THE NORRIS FILES with its own set of central characters and THE LOGAN FILES.

He enjoys writing mysteries, techno-thrillers, and Si-Fi. His Sci-Fi books THE BRINK – DEEP FLIGHT; BLACKSTAR, and CLOSE PROXIMITY are intense techno-thrillers with Si-Fi intertwined. His latest addition is CHIMERA. It is a look at what could well happen if we don’t stop twisting science in perverted way.

Marshall was born in Bainbridge, Georgia and grew up in Indiana. After spending eight years in the Navy, he attended Ball State University, earning a B.S. degree in Business.

During and after college, he was involved in the restaurant business and spent the next twenty-five years in all types of venues, eventually owing his own fine dining restaurant. After years of long hours he decided on a career change. He attended Eastern Illinois University earning a MBA. Because of his business background, Eastern Illinois University asked him to teach in the hospitality management program. He was recruited from Eastern to Parkland College and soon took over as the Program Director for the Hospitality Program. During his tenure there, he became a chef and had a television show called Cooking around the World with Chef Marshall and taught a series of cooking classes for Continuing Education as well.

Professor Huffman retired from teaching along with his wife, Dr. Susan Huffman, to Tampa Bay Florida.

THE EVENT - BOOK II - THE BEGINNING

The Beginning looks at a larger segment of the world. Other nations are struggling with the same types of problems. Each country will have to determine what direction they will take. Everything has changes with no real governments to determine what course of action they should take.

The central nations looked at are Russia, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Australia, and China. Each must determine their future and how they will interact with the other survivors. Major obstacles will have to be overcome. What will the currency be? How will dates and time measured? How do they even communicate with each other? Computers are gone, only vehicles prior to the computer based models we have today and even airplanes will not be able to function.

The real question is what will the nations do individually and collectively? Can we overcome past

indifference's or will the same distrust and animosity remain? Now that their are no 'Super Powers' but a level playing field can they make a better world?

The central characters from THE END re-appear along with new characters from the various countries that have survivors.

THE EVENT - BOOK III - THE REVELATION

Many of the characters from the first too books come together to discuss how to shape the future of the planet. A great deal of compromise will be necessary to overcome previous opposing views.

The real question remains. How do you re-shape the world to make it a better place? Can we find a better way to deal with each other? Have we really learned anything from our past or will we make the same mistakes? Our planet's resources have been poorly managed in the past. Now they have a chance to make some real changes that will ensure the future for those that follow.

New leaders will emerage but will they be for the better or will we revert to the same situation we are in today? Can we reduce violence and make the world a safer place? That is the focus of the last part of THE EVENT trilogy.

BLACKSTAR is an intriguing tale of Area 51, stranded visitors, cutting edge technology, and a megalomaniac General.

When the BlackStar was finally completed and tested, the aliens made a surprise visit. It was clear that they were not pleased with the latest development. J, the alien who has been on Earth since the Roswell crash, remained behind, seeming to be deteriorating in health, but watching, always watching.

He feels compelled to remain on the run until he can figure out who set him up and kidnapped his wife and the wife of his trusted business partner.

Logan solves the case in his usual methodical manner in spite of being stonewalled by the FBI.

This is the first of the "Logan Files." It introduces the reader to a cast of characters that will become like old friends as you read the subsequent "Logan Files.

It is a fast paced read with plenty of intrigue.

As if this weren't enough, an IUPUI professor is shot several times but refuses to cooperate with the police. Bartoni believes the two cases are linked but without cooperation, they are stymied. Their first big break in the case comes when the latest kidnapping victim escapes in a blinding snow storm. With nothing on, she has to run for her life. The bitter cold with impending frostbite is only one obstacle she has to overcome to survive. The "would be" inventor is hunting for her and if he gets to her first, she will end up being the third victim.

Follow Detective Bartoni as she and her partner are sent first in one direction and then another until they finally catch a break. Even then it is not easy, as other obstacles are thrown up before them. This is a fast paced mystery that will be hard to put down once you begin. It has all the elements of a great read.
