Ros Wright

Passionate about the specialised area of English for Medical Purposes, Ros Wright is co-author of various titles that seek to enhance the English language skills of medical professionals. Ros began teaching in this field in 1998 by training qualified doctors based in France to pass the oral component of the US Medical Licensure Examination (USMLE). She has since trained medical students and practicing clinicians from many different parts of the world, not only in the development of effective patient communication skills, but also from an academic perspective; helping them gain confidence in English to deliver presentations, write journal articles and engage in academic study. Ros holds an MA in Applied Linguistics and Materials Development, is a teacher-trainer in English for Medical Purposes and also writes for other areas of ELT. Her first publication, Good Practice: Communication Skills in English for the Medical Practitioner, co-written with Marie McCullagh, was shortlisted for the 2008 British Council Award for Innovation and then went on to win the inaugural BESIG-David Riley Award for Innovation in ESP in the same year.
