Rosemary Flannery

Rosemary Flannery has lived in France since 1989 and enjoys dual French-American nationality. Born in New Jersey, Rosemary moved to NYC where she studied French language and literature at Columbia University and graduated with honors in French in 1985. While at Columbia she co-produced and hosted French Encounters, a public-access television program on French culture produced in conjunction with the French Embassy.

In NYC she pursued a career in cable television with Showtime/The Movie Channel, and later in the French fashion industry, working for Chanel, YSL, Guy Laroche and Louis Feraud. In Paris, Rosemary pursued her love of art, studying painting and drawing at the Atelier St Luc, copying the masters at the Louvre and studying art history. She was represented for portaiture at the former Galerie des Saints-Pères. In 2004 Rosemary hosted and produced The Art Beat, a weekly cultural magazine focusing on artistic events for Paris Live Radio, an Internet radio station.

Rosemary studied Méthodologie de l'Architecture with Claude Mignot at the Sorbonne. Artist and writer, Rosemary also gives tours of Paris museums and neighbourhoods, and lectures on French architecture in Paris and the U.S.

Angels of Paris is Rosemary's first book, inspired by her sighting of extraordinary angels in architecture in every arrondissement of the city. She began photographing the angels, dragging around an aluminum ladder to capture those on high, and spent many happy hours researching them in libraries and archives to learn the stories about the angels, their artistic creators, and the history of the buildings on which they are found. Angels of Paris is her love song to Paris.

Pocket Guides Inc., the world's leading audio city guide mobile application, produced an App entitled Angels of Paris, which Rosemary wrote and narrated.
