Doug Polk was born in Prentiss, Mississippi, in 1944. His childhood rheumatic fever, tonsillitis, and appendicitis, all contributed to his experience with the animal-based diet and its effects.
Doug's love of science and his experience as an engineer during 1963-1970 contributed to his analytical mind and desire to investigate things and that desire fueled his writing urges.
When Doug felt a call into the church music ministry, he also found his wife, Marilyn. They both returned recently to the 35th anniversary of their first meeting on the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton.
After receiving his Masters of Church Music degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, Doug and Marilyn began their twenty-five year long experience in church music.
That ministry came to an end in 2000 when Doug and Marilyn felt God calling them to teach others about the Hallelujah Diet, which helped Marilyn overcome fibromyalgia in just three and one half months. They began their online and local ministry as Health Ministers and both became published authors.
They continue today to counsel with people who are fed up with being tired and sick. "Winning the Battle for the Body" is Doug's testimony of what is happening in our world and how we can overcome illness and early death by returning to the original plant-based diet.
