THE TYSEN HOTEL is the first novel of author Donna Gormly who was a professor of English and Creative Writing. Her short story, "Joy," is included in OUT OF DALLAS, which she co-edited with Jane Roberts Wood and Sally Schrup.
Much of the background material for THE TYSEN HOTEL comes from her rememberances of the many delightfully, idiosyncratic characters she met as her father, a Baptist minister, moved her family from church to church in Missouri, as well as those she met while spending summers at her grandparents' Missouri farm.
She has traveled extensively in Europe, including a trip behind the Iron Curtain into the USSR for six weeks. She loves the British Isles, Ireland, France and Greece, but she wants to own a house in Positano, Italy, her idea of a life fully lived.
She lives in Dallas, Texas, with her husband, Paul, and Jennie, their Cavalier spaniel.
