Hope Hines

Hope Hines has spent a lifetime telling stories. After earning a journalism degree from the University of Georgia—Go Dawgs!—he began his broadcasting career in 1971 as sports director at Nashville’s WLAC-TV, now WTVF.

His career took him to San Diego, New Orleans, Charlotte, and Baltimore. Along the way, he called games for the San Diego Chargers, New Orleans Saints, and Baltimore Colts. In 1983, Hope returned to WTVF in Nashville, where he remained on air until his retirement in 2011. His first book, the memoir In Hines’ Sight, was published shortly afterward.

Hope’s broadcasting honors include six Emmy Awards, recognition as Best Sportscaster in the Southeast, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Silver Circle Award, and induction into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.

Faith and family have always been central to Hope’s life. He was married to his wife, Pat, for 44 years. After eight years as a widower, he found love again and married Robbie Millsaps in April 2026. He has three grown, married children and seven grandchildren.
