“Goggas: A collection of captivating creepy crawlies” is a nonfiction paperback about some select insects that deserve to be written about. While the text, crazy humour and informative fact boxes suit kids aged around 8, the illustrations will appeal to all, from babies to grandparents.

The book weaves hard facts with fun rhymes while the illustrations, created by Cheryl's son Greg Mandy from the age of three to 15, give an enchanting perspective of the insect world through a child's hand. He was obsessed by crawling or buzzing creatures since a baby and drew pictures of them wherever and whenever he could. Cheryl kept the masterpieces then decided to write about them for this book. He also created the cover (aged 30) and is now a digital content creator in Dubai.

Born in Bulawayo Zimbabwe in 1959, Cheryl started work as a cub reporter on The Rhodesia Herald, the country's national daily newspaper, and has been writing ever since. She worked at The Star newspaper in Johannesburg, South Africa, moved to the UK, had child number two in Malaysia, moved to Ireland then back to the UK for child number three and now lives in the UAE.

Her first book "Cosmetic Watch: Lifting the lid off cosmetic ingredients" was written along with ITEC tutor and cosmetic formulator Maurene Charlwood and was published by Elliott Right-Way Books Ltd in 2001.
