Axel Englund

Axel Englund is Professor of Literature and Wallenberg Academy Fellow in the Department of Culture and Aesthetics at Stockholm University. Originally trained as a composer, Englund focuses his research on the intersection of text, music, and performance: prose and poetry about music and musicians, musical settings of literary works, and operatic dramaturgy and performance are among his principal interests. Englund has held visiting scholarships at Columbia University, Freie Universität Berlin and Stanford University, where he was an Anna Lindh Fellow in 2011. He also works as a translator, his publications including Swedish editions of W.G. Sebald and Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
