Gene Albamonte

Gene Albamonte earned an MFA in Creative Writing degree from the University of Central Florida, where he studied under Jeanne Leiby—former editor of The Southern Review. He was one of thirty writers accepted to the 2010 Sirenland Writers Conference, sponsored by One Story magazine, where he studied under Dani Shapiro—editor of Best New American Voices 2010.

Thus far, his fiction has appeared in Monkeybicycle, LIT Magazine, The Rattling Wall, Southern Indiana Review, and other publications. A story of his was named one of the top 25 in Glimmer Train's January 2008 Family Matters competition, earning a Finalist position. He had another story earn an Honorable Mention position in Glimmer Train’s April 2008 Family Matters competition. He was also a weekly humor columnist for PANK Magazine’s blog and Burrow Press's blog.

He's the author of Huckster: An Unnecessary Collection of Essays on the Advertising Industry, which is now available on Amazon.com.

He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two children.
