Carl Martin

Carl Martin has had 3 rewarding careers. First, as a Hollywood artist (http://imdb.com/name/nm1973813/), he produced graphics, illustrations, typography and several one-person shows of his space-related art. He also produced several matte paintings for a short film by Academy Award winning designer, Saul Bass, and world-renowned writer, Ray Bradbury (Quest, 1984, Pyramid Media, Santa Monica).

Then, Martin switched to software engineering, gaining his bachelors degree, summa cum laude, in computer information technology. He has worked for Bank of America, Control Data, Ceridian Payroll, Global Database Marketing and IPRO Tech. He has also produced 3D astronomy software, "Stars in the NeighborHood."

Finally, Martin has settled into a career as a writer. He has co-authored a novel with John Dalmas (Touch the Stars: Emergence, 1983, Tor Books, New York) and has won first-place honors for both his essay, "Outsiderness in the Scientific Community" (Krupnick Award, 1994, Los Angeles), and his short story, "Toady" (Dutton Books Award, 1994, Los Angeles). He continues to write for multiple websites and continues to write both fiction (as Carl Martin) and non-fiction (as Rod Martin, Jr).
