Robin Newbold

Robin Newbold is an author and journalist. Fourth novel, When the Darkness Swallowed the Sun, is out now from indie publisher Spectrum Books, described by novelist Paolo Grossi as "a fast-paced thriller set in Thailand’s dark underbelly".

It is based on Newbold's own experience as a journalist in Thailand and inspired by the brutal double murder of Hannah Witheridge and David Miller on Koh Tao in 2014.

Previous novel Bangkok Burning, described by Boyz magazine as a "dark, exotic love story", was published in December 2020 by The Conrad Press and is available in paperback and on Kindle. Newbold's travel writing has appeared in the likes of Time Out, the South China Morning Post, Bangkok Metro and The Times.
