Mateen Diop is a resilient and tenacious individual who has overcome numerous obstacles to become the person he is today. Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, Dr. Diop grew up in one of Bexar Counties' most impoverished zip codes. These challenging circumstances shaped his character and fueled his determination to break free from the cycle of underachievement. During his youth, he faced relentless episodes of racism and discrimination, which tested his strength and resolve. Despite the adversity, he refused to let these experiences define him. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen family circumstances, he found himself alone in an unfamiliar neighborhood, far away from the safety and familiarity of his previous neighborhood.

Navigating this new environment was a challenging feat. He encountered constant racist behavior from his peers, teachers, and even the community he called home. However, he firmly believes that it was through the grace of God that he persevered and did not lose his life or become a ward of the state.

Throughout these challenges, he realized the power of education and its ability to transform lives. This realization fueled his determination to pursue higher education and positively impact the world.

Driven by a desire to break the cycle of underachievement and provide hope to others facing similar adversities, Dr. Diop dedicated himself to academic excellence. After flunking out of many colleges, Dr. Diop eventually discovered his passion- educating others! With a strong focus on overcoming obstacles and mastering his life, he has honed his abilities and become a highly skilled professional in the field of education.
