John Bonnell is a writer, composer, and musician whose work blends satire, speculative imagination, and philosophical humor. His short fiction has appeared in Columbia: A Journal of Literature and Art, the Wisconsin Review, and other literary publications. His stories often explore the gap between how the world appears and how it actually works, featuring argumentative animals, misguided humans, cosmic accidents, and the occasional contemplative fungus.
In addition to writing fiction, Bonnell composes progressive rock and classically influenced music and has worked extensively with audio and recording technology. After many years devoted primarily to music, he has returned to fiction with a growing body of new and revised work.
He lives in Oklahoma, where he continues to write, compose, and pursue projects shaped by humor, imagination, and curiosity about the universe.
