Mary Bast

Mary Bast, PhD, retired Enneagram coach/author, artist, poet.

In 1982 completed interdisciplinary PhD in social psychology, with dual emphasis on organization development and personal growth.

1982-1988: Director of Executive Development for Federated Department Stores. Co-created benchmark program to coach high-potential executives in FDS retail companies across the U.S.

1988-1998: Bast Consulting, Inc. Coached executive clients across the U.S. in a variety of industries for on-site leadership and team development.

1998-2022: Out of the Box Coaching: Published the first Enneagram coaching book, Out of the Box Coaching with the Enneagram (with co-author Clarence Thomson), and coached clients/mentored coaches worldwide by phone. Also published Out of the Box Self-Coaching Workbook (with Cristina Favreau), Somebody? Nobody? The Enneagram, Mindfulness and Life's Unfolding (with C.J. Fitzsimons), Going for the Gold: Alchemy in Coaching, and Buddhism and the Enneagram, as well as contributions to Enneagram Applications (Tom Condon and Clarence Thomson), and The Enneagram of Death (Elizabeth Wagele).

Personally, Mary has published several poetry chapbooks, contributed to other poetry collections, and acted as Editor in Chief of Bacopa Literary Review 2016-2021.
