Russell Faure-Brac

In the 1960's I worked at Stanford Research Institute, conducting research on aerospace and weapon systems. One day, while plotting how our naval strike aircraft could penetrate North Vietnamese radar and missile defenses, I had my defining moment. Concluding that there had to be an alternative to war, I quit my job, served as a Vista volunteer in rural Missouri and later entered a career in environmental planning. After the events of 9/11, my interest in peace was reawakened and I began ten years of research on our national security policy.

Now retired, I host the show "Transition to Peace" on KWMR-FM community radio, write blogs on my website transitiontopeace.com and give presentations on my book "Transition to Peace, a Defense Engineer's Search for an Alternative to War."

I'm active with both the peace and Transition Town movements and live with my wife on a small Arabian horse ranch in Northern California. I invite you to check out my work and join me in the search for peace.
