Gregory K. Armstrong

Throughout his career, Armstrong has investigated the impact of language and cultural immersion on participants studying abroad. During a decade at Indiana University he directed Indiana’s Honors Program in San Luis Potosí, México. Later, while chairing the Department of Foreign Languages at UALR, he directed intensive summer programs in Mexico and Spain for Spanish students, international studies majors, and honors scholars. He subsequently taught second language methods and supervised student teachers at the State University of New York (SUNY Cortland) before returning to Arkansas to head the Department of World Languages at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. He and his wife Silvia frequently direct immersion programs and student travel in Europe and Latin America. Regional history, which led to Armstrong's interest in Parley P. Pratt, is another area of research Armstrong likes to pursue.
