Cathy Antener has had a passion for the Pines that began in 1979 when a forest fire erupted in the Pine Barrens just a short distance from her home. That event led to led to an appreciation of the Pine Barrens and eventually resulted in the creation of www.pineypower.com, in 1998. Cathy's website has become a favorite among New Jersey Pine Barrens afficionados from across the country, many of whom have been telling her for years to "write that book!"
Cathy also contracts with travel and bus companies for tour guide services, where she introduces the mysteries of the Pines to groups of up to 50 people from the tri-state area. They can enjoy the comforts of their bus - and a three-course luncheon - between stops at historic villages, local craft shops or farm markets, or even a cranberry harvest. Of course, the Jersey Devil is always a popular topic, but he hasn't shown up during any of her tours - not yet, anyway!
Before her career in writing and leading tours, Cathy worked in Ocean County NJ government for many years, where she was the public relations manager for Parks and Recreation. She currently lives in the Pinelands of Barnegat NJ with her greyhound Isaac; many of the pinelands plants found in her wooded yard are the subject of her photographs.
