Mary McHugh

Dr. Mary L. McHugh earned her BSN from Wichita State University, and her Master's and Doctoral degrees in nursing from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She began her nursing career working in Surgical ICU, and continued with work in Coronary Care ICU. She studied psychiatric nursing in her masters work, and focused on statistics and data analysis, Nursing Administration and Clinical Informatics in her doctoral work. Her doctoral dissertation was entitled: Comparison of Four Nurse Staffing Patterns Using Computer Simulation.

After completing her doctorate, she worked in hospital nursing management in Virginia and Kansas, and taught nursing at Case Western Reserve University, Wichita State University, and The University of Colorado Health Science Center. At present, she is Director and Chair of Nursing, National University in San Diego California. She has published extensively in the fields of Nursing Administration, Informatics, and Statistics.
