Isabel Ortiz

Isabel Ortiz is Director of Global Social Justice, a think-tank based in Geneva, as well as Director of the Global Social Justice Program at Joseph Stiglitz's Initiative for Policy Dialogue at Columbia University, New York.

In 2013-19, she was Director of Social Protection at the United Nations' International Labour Organization (ILO, Geneva). Earlier, she was Director of Policy and Strategy for UNICEF (New York, 2009-12) and Senior Advisor at the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (New York, 2005-09). From 1995-2003, she was a Project Economist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB, Manila), where she was a founding member of ADB Poverty Reduction Unit.

Isabel Ortiz has worked in more than 50 countries, providing advisory services to governments and the G20, BRICS, African Union and UNASUR, among others. She was educated in Barcelona and the UK (MSc. and PhD. London School of Economics). She has more than 95 publications translated in several languages.
