It has been an interesting life so far. Growing up in Asheville, NC in the early 1960s and going to an Elementary School which is now a 'landmark' there was never any thought of great international travel, being involved in a major whistle blower case, or life in Hawaii. There were very few thoughts about going to college much less graduate school in Arizona. ASU and Thunderbird were wonderful experiences.

And then there were experiences in new product development at ITT Telecom, Nortel, Microsoft, and other tech companies and frankly tech bores me to tears. In a million years I'd never dream of founding a company much less raising a few million dollars for it. In many ways it has been a 'what next' kind of existence.

The best part of my life has been my son Nathaniel. He is the major reason I can smile and laugh in the chaos called life. Somewhere in my adventures the idea for my first book was born. It is another of my never thought I'd do that items but in retrospect now that it is done and published I am not surprised I did it.

I make my home in Raleigh, NC now because I have to. One day I will return to my spiritual home of Honolulu, Hawaii and you will not find enough dynamite to blow me off that beautiful rock in the middle of a very large ocean. If it goes the way I'd like I will arrive by sailboat. If not, no worries.

My self description would be thus. I believe in the notion that a first class intellect must be able to entertain both sides of an argument. I also believe that making fun of life is what makes life fun. My greatest luck apart from my son is in having a group of friends that are first class people. But they will all tell you that I am as off the shelf crazy and fun loving as they come. Maybe it is the annual celebration of my friend Mike's passing that requires teeing off from his grave site into the lake, an annual cigar, and singing Jimmy Buffet tunes. Or maybe it is all night dancing in discos in Asia. Perhaps it is flying to far off destinations just for a weekend, I am up for it. And they are being kind... I really am a little odd.

I'd sum me up thusly. I am the most serious not serious person I know.
