I'm Petra Horst, and writing has been my greatest passion for as long as I can remember.

I write historical fiction for young adults and adults, with a particular love for two fascinating worlds: the Roman frontier in ancient Germania and the history and cultures of the Native peoples of America. My stories combine carefully researched historical facts with compelling fictional characters, bringing the past to life through adventure, friendship, courage, and the choices people make in difficult times.

One of my best-known series is The Blood of the Apache, a collection of historical novels set during the final years of the Apache Wars in the late nineteenth century. Rather than relying on the fictional world of the Wild West, my goal has always been to tell authentic, engaging stories inspired by real historical events. I hope my books encourage readers to discover the rich history and culture of the Apache people while enjoying an exciting adventure.

For younger readers, I've also written books such as White Eyes and Cactus Blossom, introducing history through fast-paced stories that are both entertaining and educational.

My second major historical series, Stories from the Roman Frontier, explores life along the Roman limes in ancient Germania. These novels follow young characters whose lives are shaped by the conflict and cooperation between the Roman Empire and the Germanic tribes. The first book in the series, Winter of the Wolf – Lavinia and Armin, was honored with the 2014 Saar-Hunsrück Literature Award in the Children's and Young Adult category.

More recently, I expanded this world with my In the Talons of the Eagle series, continuing my passion for bringing Roman history to life through exciting, character-driven stories.

Besides historical fiction, I also write regional crime novels under the pen name Theresa Wolf. My Detective Bernsdorff mysteries are set in and around Bad Homburg in Germany's beautiful Taunus region.
