Rob A. Rutenbar

Rob A. Rutenbar is the Able Bliss Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He received the PhD from the University of Michigan, and spent 25 years on the faculty at Carnegie Mellon University, before moving to Illinois. He and his students pioneered much of today's commercial technology for the design and optimization of mixed-signal integrated circuits. His recent work has focused on methods for dealing with the unpleasant realities of nanoscale statistics in modern chip design, and custom silicon architectures for challenging problems in perception, machine learning, and data analytics. He is a Fellow of the ACM and the IEEE, and his work has been featured in venues ranging from EETimes to the Economist magazine.
