November 25, 1952 – January 25, 2011
Marjorie de Muynck is a pioneer of four influential musical compositions in the key of Ohm™: There's No Place Like Ohm Volumes 1 & 2 (Lemniscate Music, 2002 & 2005), In the Key of Earth, and Vibrational Healing Music (First released by Sounds True, 2007,2009; Re-released by Lemniscate Music, 2013 as Commemorative Collector’s Edition). De Muynck's recording label, Lemniscate Music, posthumously released Ohm - A World in Harmony (Ohm Drone) in 2017, featuring the Ohm drone she and sound engineer Dick Orr created as the basis for the recording Vibrational Healing Music.
An eclectic mix of experience as a musician and composer, healing arts practitioner and educator, combined with a scientific understanding of sound and vibration, led de Muynck to create Ohm Therapeutics™ sound healing, a comprehensive Vibrational healing system which combines the application of Ohm Tuning Forks, Crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, and music in the healing frequency of Ohm.
In 2008, de Muynck’s textbook was published: Sound Healing: Vibrational Healing with Ohm Tuning Forks, a practical application manual with DVD. A second edition was released in 2014. De Muynck also broke ground by authoring the first Sound Healing Primer Chart, demonstrating tuning fork applications for self-care and treating others. Two additional Tuning Fork Treatment Charts (Massage Therapists, Chakra Balancing with Sound) have been posthumously published through the company, Sound Universe, de Muynck co-founded.
Earlier, in 1995, de Muynck co-founded the Kairo's Institute of Sound Healing, and co-developed the Acutonics® sound healing system and co-authored the textbook, There's No Place Like Ohm: Sound Healing, Oriental Medicine and the Cosmic Mysteries. In addition, she co-developed a healing treatment called Harmonic Attunement® which incorporates the use of cosmically tuned symphonic gongs, tuning forks, didgeridoos, rattles, Tibetan bowls and bells.
Marjorie de Muynck also studied Huichol Shamanism with Brant Secunda and was very interested in the indigenous use of sound for healing. A graduate of the ISIS School of Massage in 1983, de Muynck was a part of an early movement of professionals who helped to create certification standards for Massage Practitioners. A prodigious student, practitioner and instructor of alternative healing modalities, de Muynck attended and graduated from the Seattle Shiatsu Institute (1983-1986) and studied Oriental Medicine for over twenty five years. She taught Shiatsu, Hara Diagnosis, Kundalini Yoga, Reiki and Sound Healing at the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine for six years. In 1983, de Muynck started an On-Site Shiatsu business for King County and the City of Seattle, which she owned and operated for seventeen years.
During this period, de Muynck was a performing musician. In 1987, she was a founding member of the Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet and composed the musical score for the film Crocodile Tears.
A Master of Music in Music Education (Boston University 2007), de Muynck was awarded a posthumous honorary degree as a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe in 2011.
