I'm a dedicated researcher. I believe that important history hasn't been concealed as much as it's been forgotten. It's been condensed and cleaned up for public school textbooks. "Unimportant" things were left out.
My research suggests those "unimportant" things were among the very MOST important. When I find a historical nuance I've never seen before, that draws me in. I want to know more.
That habit has led me to remarkable discoveries. Sometimes I share them with other researchers. Others go into the books I write, and collaborate on with others.
No doubt some history has been concealed. Records and reports have been altered. I don't consider myself a conspiracy enthusiast, but I'm not blind to media manipulation.
One of my favorite discoveries was in a public library, where - sitting on a shelf - I found a book with handwritten annotations by John Quincy Adams. The handwriting that matched historical documents. I brought it to the library's attention, for verification.
I wish I'd thought to scan or photograph those pages, as they're no longer accessible by the public.
I hope to find more hidden treasures like that. Meanwhile, you'll still find me researching in dusty, academic libraries, or out in a field in Nevada, studying the skies.
