Mike Gibney

My current role is as Professor of Food and Health at University College Dublin and Director of the UCD Institute of Food and Health (www.ucd.ie/foodandhealth). I took up this post in 2006 having been in the Department of Clinical Medicine at Trinity College Dublin as a professor of human nutrition since 1984 . Prior to that I worked at Southampton University Medical School as a lecturer in human nutrition. From 1973 to 1976, I worked as a teaching fellow at the University of Sydney Veterinary School where I took my PhD. I served as President of the Nutrition Society from 1994 to 1997. My research combines public health nutrition and molecular nutrition and I coordinate some large national (www.ucd.ie/jingo) and international (www.food4me.org) grants, having published over 260 peer reviewed scientific papers.
