Birgit S. Quam was born in northern Germany, but was raised in the town of Norddorf, on the tiny North Frisian Island of Amrum, in the North Sea. Birgit emigrated to the Washington Heights section of New York City in 1953. Married with two adult sons and three grandchildren, she is retired and is enjoying her family and life on a barrier island off the Western coast of Florida.
Her book 'Worlds Apart - Memoir of an Emigrant Girl' has been a life-long endeavor. She started writing a journal when she was eight years old.
Her biggest asset is her sense of humor!
Birgit has also been published in: "as it is written ...II", A selection of works by members of the Gulf Coast writers and with Guideposts online - Mysterious Ways.
Besides writing, Birgit is spending her retirement traveling, kayaking, swimming, walking the beach, dancing and entertaining the many visitors from the colder climates.
Birgit is a member of the "National League of American Pen Women" and The Gulf Coast Writers.
