Mary Carmen

Mary Carmen is the penname of a science fiction writer based near Cheyenne, Wyoming. Mary Carmen likes to write about entities, both Earthlings and aliens, who have interesting character traits. She believes Earthlings are far less advanced in science than entities from other planets, so her stories do not ever involve a military action where Earthlings have a ghost of a chance of success.

Entities from other planets seek out Earthlings in Mary Carmen’s stories so Earthlings can provide food and art. The Land Grant colleges and other agricultural institutions have allowed Earthlings to develop skills and procedures to create a diverse cornucopia of fare, and other planets look to Earthlings for these foods. In addition, other planets admire the various art forms that have been associated with civilizations on Earth for millennia, and entities from those planets want to decorate their homes with oils and knickknacks produced on Earth.

Mary Carmen believes that life is both serious and funny, and she tries to inject drama and humor into every novel.

She is the granddaughter of a Methodist minister and the daugher of two schoolteachers. She has worked for a number of years as an IT consultant.
