Philip Machanick is a computer science academic who has worked on three continents: Africa, North America and Australia, at some of the top universities in each. His research covers computer architecture, networks and bioinformatics.
He has a Pioneer Award from the South African Institute of Computer Scientists and Information Technologists as recognition of his contribution to the discipline nationally and is a senior member of ACM and IEEE.
He does a lot of science communication including debunking anti-science movements and conspiracy theories; his novels generally have science themes or are science fiction.
