Hector Rocha

Hector O. Rocha is PhD in Management Studies for London Business School and Professor of Business Policy and Entrepreneurship at IAE – Business School (Argentina) since 1997. He is also Executive MBA (IAE – Business School), Master in Sciences (London Business School) and Master in Governance and Culture of Organizations (Candidate, Navarre University). His doctoral thesis Entrepreneurship and Regional Development: The Role of Clusters, which won a merit prize from the Committee of the Regions of the European Union, was supervised by Paul Reynolds and John Mullins, and examined by a Committee integrated by Edward Malecki and David Storey. He has given seminars at IESE Business School (Spain) and Hannover University (Germany) and conferences and symposia in the United States, Mexico, Brazil and seven European countries. Previously, he has been management consultant for Price Waterhouse & Co., adviser of three Argentinean public officials, and member of the Techint Group.

His academic and consulting experience focus on four subjects: 1) decision making; 2) business, management and development; 3) private – public cooperation and co-creation of value 4) entrepreneurship, clusters and inter-organizational networks involving the public, private and non-profit sectors. He has published more than fifty academic papers in international journals and books and presented at international institutions such as the United Nations (UNCTAD plenary session, 2004; AOM - UN Global Compact Forum on business and development, 2006), IADB (SME development, 1998), the Strategic Management Society (1998-2002) and the Academy of Management (2002 - present). Hector’s papers have been co-authored by recognized figures in the academic and business worlds such as S. Ghoshal, R.E.Miles, Ch. Snow, P. Moran, P.D. Reynolds, J. Birkinshaw, L. Gratton, R. Sternberg, J. Nahapiet and G. McDermott.

These topics are part of his management activities within IAE and his consulting activities, and spam at the Argentine, Latin American and international levels. He has 20 years of experience advising local governments, national NGOs and national and international companies. His activities include facilitating directories and inter-organizational networks, preparing business plans and corporate strategies, facilitating organizational and regional sustainable development (human, economic, environmental and social). Some of his managerial duties at IAE include facilitating international connections and activities with inter-organizational networks (Chambers, networked organizations), coordinating the development of IAE's Executive Committee and its relationship with the Board of Directors (2006-2007), academic coordinator of the Business Council for Development and Integration (currently known as ENOVA Thinking) which is made up of CEOs of international companies in charge of the Latin American region (2005-2007) and Associate Director of executive programs (1997-2000). He also worked as an academic at institutions such as UNLP, UCA, UCALP, Universidad de Belgrano and ISEG.

Hector is married to Maria Inés, with whom he dedicates family time to learning from, educating and enjoying their children Esteban, Efraín, Ignacio, José, Tobías, Miguel, María Lourdes, María Sofía and María Pilar.
