E. G. Gaddess writes young adult fiction in the Steampunk and Victorian Gothic (vampire) genres. She grew up reading Jules Verne and Phyllis A Whitney's novels, so it isn't surprising. While she is a romantic at heart (aren't we all?), it remains the B story in her fiction. It seems there's always something else going on to keep her protagonist busy.
Her pen name is an amalgamation of the names of her deceased grandparents (yes--the E. G. actually stands for something); she wishes they could have seen her books in print. She knows they would have been her biggest fans--and her most vocal critics (you made your hero do what?).
