Ellie Stevenson

Ellie Stevenson is an editor, writing coach and the author of 3 novels. Her most recent novel, The Floozy in the Park is a partly historical mystery set on a beautiful but sinister island and in an Edwardian retail empire. Think Mr Selfridge with a dark side!

Her other two novels are Shadows of the Lost Child, a partly-historical novel set in a fictional version of York, UK, and with some time travel, and Ship of Haunts: the other Titanic story.

Ellie has also written Watching Charlotte Bronte Die, a collection of surreal and sometimes spooky short stories, which yet again feature death, destruction, ghosts and mystery (with a touch of humour).

She has also written the non-fiction booklet, Writing for Magazines in the UK: how to get paid to write, and contributed to several anthologies.

Ellie is currently editing her fourth novel, fuelled by inspiration, determination and plenty of coffee.

What people have said:

The Floozy in the Park

'I bought this book because I had enjoyed a previous book by this author, Watching Charlotte Bronte Die. I said then that the inside of Ellie Stevenson's head must be a very strange place to inhabit, and this new book suggests that the Stevenson psyche is as individual today as ever it was. That glorious imagination, swooping from character to character and from insight to insight, makes for a great read.' (The Bagster)

'Another of Ellie Stevenson's books that has insight, intrigue and a really great read, her imagination is fantastic.' (Hazel)

Shadows of the Lost Child

'Really enjoyed this atmospheric story. Plot kept me hooked with its mystery, ghosts and time travel. Lots of things going on to keep you interested.' (Jilly)

'A page-turning mystery that travels through time and keeps you guessing. I couldn't put it down!' (S. Davies)

Ship of Haunts (novel)

'original', 'hard to put down' and 'I recommend this book to people who love a book with a sense of history or who have a creative imagination.' Reenie's Book Blog

'she has brought the meticulous research of the non-fiction writer, as well as her undoubted flair for creating memorable characters. She describes herself as "passionate about Titanic" and conveys that passion in her story, in particular in the personage of Carrin's ghost.' Valerie Wilson

Watching Charlotte Bronte Die (surreal short stories)

'Be prepared for the unexpected. Ellie Stevenson takes her readers deep into the heart of her characters' Lingonews
