Joël Roy

Joël Roy lives in French Guyana (Mana 9736o) where he is engaged at the associative level for understanding and interculturality between the different social groups that inhabit this region of South America, the largest of the French regions. Novelist, essayist and author of youth albums, his field of investigation covers all the north of the Amazon, from Brazil to Peru. He also contributes to Mitaraka magazine, an Amazon magazine dedicated to art, including poetry. With regard to Guyana and Suriname, his research led him to listen to testimonies, to conduct interviews to try to understand and to contribute to making known, through his writings, the culture and language of the “people of the river”., to establish a life together that cannot be without mutual understanding.

Joël Roy is also a lecturer. He also works in schools, colleges and high schools. He is a regular guest at the Paris Book Fair and the International Book Fair in Cayenne, Guyana. He also attended other exhibitions in Europe and South America, notably in Brazil.
