Joanne Miller

Joanne Miller (non-fiction)/Joanne Orion Miller (fiction) is the author of seven non-fiction books on history and travel and contributor to many more; several books feature Joanne's images. Her short stories, including finalists for the Raymond Carver Award, are published in both hard copy and e-zine formats. Joanne's current novel is "Shaketown; the Madam's Daughter," an historical novel set in San Francisco's Victorian underworld that explores the lives of Irish poor, Chinese immigrants and wealthy nabobs, and the sacrifices they must make to survive.

As a long-time travel and food writer, Joanne captures unique settings that entrance readers; as a cultural anthropologist, the interaction of characters in her fiction work makes for surprising, twisty plots.
