Joshua K. Talbott was born in Jackson, Tennessee. Growing up, his family moved around a lot, and he was given the opportunity to travel all over America. He has been diagnosed with Bipolar II, and he is on medication to help treat it. For many years, however, his illness went untreated and he refused medication because he knew it would affect his career.
To help cope with it, he would write down his feelings and speculations about life, love, mania, and depression. He would also exercise a lot. Running long distances always seemed to balance him out when he was having a manic or depressive episode. It seemed to make it manageable, until he had a depressive episode that led him to being hospitalized. His refusal to take medication to address his condition also resulted in financial problems, and inevitably a divorce
