Andrew Lawston

Andrew Lawston is a London-based writer and actor, with over twenty years of published work from finance journalism to limericks. His work shows a quirky world view, and usually a strong dose of humour - which is why he gave up finance journalism.

A fluent French speaker and former teacher, Andrew translates French classics. His best-selling translation of Casanova's "Story of My Escape" was published in 2014. Andrew has also translated Arthur Bernède's classic Chantecoq detective novels, as well as writing his own novels. His Detective Daintypaws series of books featuring his cat Buscemi solving crimes, have been entertaining readers since 2020.

As an experienced actor, Andrew records his own audiobooks with great enthusiasm and many silly voices.

Andrew lives in West London with his wife Mel, for whom he strives to cook authentic Asian food without using coriander. Together they go for long walks, see as much theatre as possible, and generally refuse to take life too seriously.
