Dwayne D. Williams

Dr. Dwayne D. Williams is a researcher–practitioner and founder of The LEARN Framework Academy. After beginning his career as a school psychologist in 2010, he noticed that teachers often read the books and attended the trainings yet still struggled to design culturally responsive activities.

After seeing the problem repeatedly, Dr. Williams began asking a critical question–a question that changed the trajectory of his life and career: What problems prevent teachers from designing culturally responsive activities?

That one question launched him on a five-year journey that led to a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois Chicago.

To explore the question, he conducted a seven-week teacher intervention study.

Before the study began, Dr. Williams and participating teachers organized his training materials into a simple, memorable, and actionable acronym: LEARN, a five-step roadmap for designing culturally meaningful activities.

Teachers entered the study unsure how to design culturally responsive activities.

By week seven, every participant had applied the LEARN Framework to transform barriers and design culturally meaningful activities.

Today, Dr. Williams uses LEARN in his educational and success coaching practice to help people identify and transform barriers that prevent them from achieving their goals, take purposeful action, and move forward with clarity.
