Writing a first novel entailed so much more than expected...

To produce the third edition of 'Kiss the Sky' published by Telemachus Press with a cover by John Murphy took seven long years.

I wrote five drafts over five years (as a mother of four young children I had to get up at four in the morning to find the time) and published it under its working title in Thailand, where I flogged the first thousand copies on the beach while supporting our family of six.

Then I sold the next thousand copies in the streets of London before it was published by Telemachus Press under the title ‘Kiss the Sky.’

Selling the book in person was a very satisfactory experience: not only did the book give me some monetary return for all the hard work, my readers got in touch and gave me the most encouraging feedback a writer could wish for.

There are some videos of readers talking about Kiss the Sky on this page and there are literally hundreds of reviews on Facebook, a small selection of which you can find in the book!

Readers are wondering where the sequel is: I have been working on it but I’ve been unable to finish, let alone publish, due to Life's challenges. The Kindle edition is very affordable – the price of a quality coffee.

Writing a novel that enthralls the reader has to capture the author first and believe me it’s a HUGE effort to combine writing with working life and looking after children. This doesn’t happen with (second hand) copies from obscure sources.
