Gretchen Gannon and her husband, Niall, split their time between St. Louis, Missouri and Charleston, South Carolina. Her passions have always been reading, writing and drawing. At a young age she created little stapled books of her own stories, and has kept many of them to this day. Growing up in a home with five boisterous brothers, she often escaped to her room with books from Beverly Cleary, Judy Blume or Madeleine L’Engle. Gretchen and her two girls, now grown, had several favorite picture books that they read over and over. These include Mean Jean the Recess Queen, Chocolatina, No David and Kitty Princess and the Newspaper Dress. Gretchen’s background is in design and illustration and, with her second book, Chicacheetah, Finding Her Spotlight, she was able to combine her love of both illustration and storytelling.
