Retail automobile sales is a tough business. It's 12 hours a day (sometimes more) 6 days a week with no benefits to speak of. Most people coming into the bidness don't last 6 months. Very few stay over a year. I stayed over 30 years. I enjoyed it, and it paid well. Very well. In those 30 years, I held every job there is in an automobile dealership. Retired now, I don't miss it one damn bit.
