Marjorie Eldred loves reading, writing, and gardening. She lives near Buckley, Washington with her husband, Clio in a beautiful senior community. Clio and Marjorie are Christians and active in Bible Study opportunities of various kinds. Clio's prison work, known as Refuge in Christ Ministries, gives Marjorie opporunity to participate by writing Bible studies --which Clio uses as hand-outs --and contributing her transient musical skills. Clio plays guitar and sings soft rock from the fifties, sixties and seventies; Marjorie contributes her warm alto.
Her first book, a family story/history, was Seizing the Treasure: Nuggets of Vaughn-Kilpatrick Story.
Marjorie Vaughn Eldred is the daughter of Marion and Bland Vaughn, the central characters in Seizing the Treasure. She has created a multi-generational story by including ancestor's story as well as tidbits from her personal life, drawing the reader in and keeping him/her there till the last page is finished.
Marion and Bland Vaughn, her parents, met and married in Two Buttes, Colorado and left during the Dust Bowl years for very personal reasons. Much of Seizing the Treasures' story takes place in Two Buttes, and shares in riveting detail the hardships people suffered during the worst dust storms in America's history.
Marjorie grew up on a farm in Vale, Oregon; many rolicking tales in Seizing the Treasure re-create her childhood there.
Blooms, Blunders and Blessings, a warm collection of poetry and prose about her garden experiences followed soon after.
Marjorie added a new book to her collection last November. Journey from Addiction to Freedom: A Family's Prison Experience compiles writings and letters from eight and one-half painful and yet joyful years. Available in print and digital, this book offers hope to those enduring the prison experience and those still making important choices.
She has recently completed her first fiction, Katie of Malheur Oregon Country, a historical inspirational journey through the first decade of her hometown which was originally known as Stone House.
Marjorie is the mother of four grown children, and they have given her seven wonderful Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren.
